Art-Directable Procedural Vegetation in Disney's "Zootopia"

To address the large appetite for varied and dynamic vegetation on "Zootopia", the creative team expanded their tool set for procedural vegetation to realize diverse flora across varied environments, populate hundreds of shots with dynamic vegetation, and bring to life the rich world of a mammalian metropolis.

Vegetation Choreography in "The Good Dinosaur"

Nature plays a major part in Disney/Pixar's "The Good Dinosaur". Each component of the environment had to react to weather and other characters’ actions, which required choreography and simulated motion for each piece of vegetation in the film.

Can't See the Jungle for the Trees

For Disney's "The Jungle Book", we needed to build huge and highly detailed jungle sets. We built a tool set that enables our artists to view and manipulate this amount of data, providing powerful functionality whilst maximising efficiency.

The Trees of "The Jungle Book"

For Disney's remake of "The Jungle Book", MPC was required to build a jungle comprised of photorealistic trees and other plantlife. The creative team leveraged SpeedTree and Fabric Engine to build a pipeline for those elements. Approximated leaf cards, replaced at render time, maximized the image quality and render performance.
