Birds of a Feather session requests must be submitted via the SIGGRAPH 2016 submission system before Friday, 22 July. Make sure all the information in your submission is accurate and up to date. Missing information may delay processing your request.
If you are the organizer for more than one Birds of a Feather, fill out a separate online request for each event.
All Birds of a Feather meeting rooms are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis, considering setup needs and expected attendance.
There are six SIGGRAPH 2016 Birds of a Feather theater-style rooms at the Anaheim Convention Center. No changes to this setup are permitted. One room can accommodate up to 200 attendees, three of the rooms up to 175, and two rooms up to 120. Attendance cannot exceed capacity in any meeting rooms. Any Birds of a Feather session that exceeds seating capacity may be canceled by the Anaheim Fire Marshall.
The 90-seat ACM SIGGRAPH Theater in the convention center is also available for presentations with a strong “national” or “international” focus, or for presentations that are highly relevant to the ACM SIGGRAPH organization. Audio/video equipment is provided at no charge in this room. Presentations must be approved by the International Resources Committee. If you are interested in the theater option, check the appropriate box as you are completing the submission form, and the committee will be in touch with you to verify.
If your session might exceed the above capacities, requires an alternative setup, or will continue later than the allowed times in the convention center, select a hotel location from the drop-down box in the request form.
SIGGRAPH 2016 hotels with meeting space where Birds of a Feather sessions can be held:
Do not contact the convention center or any hotels until you have received your confirmation from SIGGRAPH 2016 Conference Management. Venues cannot assign meeting space or confirm details until they are officially approved.
Meeting space in the convention center is complimentary, but limited. Some hotels may charge room rental and/or setup fees, and/or require a minimum purchase of food and beverages. SIGGRAPH 2016 Conference Management will let you know if you might incur hotel fees before your request is confirmed.
Payment for all services (food and beverage, audio/visual, etc.) is the responsibility of the Birds of a Feather Organizer.
All audio/visual costs for Birds of a Feather sessions are the responsibility of the organizer.
SIGGRAPH 2016 offers one room in the convention center with a discounted pre-set audio/visual package for use by Birds of a Feather organizers. Availability for this room is on a first-come, first-served basis. The rental fee is $250 for two hours and $300 for three hours (maximum). Pre-payment is required for assignment to this room.

A confirmation code will be provided and should be entered where requested in your Birds of a Feather submission to verify payment.
You may bring your own audio/visual equipment for your Birds of a Feather room. Hotel audio/visual services are generally more expensive.
If you need to cancel the pre-set audio/visual package, your cancellation must be received on or before Friday, 8 July. All cancellations incur a $75 cancellation fee and the Birds of a Feather session will be moved to another room. After 8 July, no refunds will be issued. SIGGRAPH 2016 will refund the full rental amount if the session does not comply with the Birds of a Feather criteria or the space is not available.
Birds of a Feather sessions can be no longer than three hours including set up and teardown. Organizers of longer events, or those who submit multiple requests for the same day for more than three hours, should consider proposing a co-located conference.
Birds of a Feather sessions cannot start prior to 8 am or end after 6 pm at the convention center. There is no time restriction for Birds of a Feather sessions assigned to hotels.
If your request is approved, you will receive an email acknowledgement within two weeks. Birds of a Feather sessions in hotels will receive a confirmed room assignment at that time. sessions held in the convention center will not receive a room assignment until the week of 12 June. If you request the pre-set audio/visual room in the convention center, you will be notified of availability with the approval email. Approval notices include all important contact information.

If your Birds of a Feather submission form is received by 10 June, your session’s title will be published in the Conference Locator. No changes or new submission titles will be accepted after this deadline has passed.
Birds of a Feather events must be held in one of the official hotels or the Anaheim Convention Center to be publicized. Events in other locations will not be advertised in any SIGGRAPH 2016 conference materials.
ASCAP and BMI are membership associations of US composers, songwriters, and publishers of every kind of music. Whenever music (recorded or live) is played at an event, a license must be purchased from these associations. The license purchase is the responsibility of the organizer and not the venue where the event is to be held.
Exhibitors are not eligible to use Birds of a Feather meeting rooms. Exhibitors are required to complete an exhibitor meeting space form provided by Exhibition Management. The form is available in the Exhibitor Manual.
