Procedural Voronoi Foams for Additive Manufacturing

A study of procedural, aperiodic microstructures inspired by Voronoi open-cell foams, which are well suited for fabrication. The absence of regularity affords a simple approach to grade the foam geometry – and thus its mechanical properties – within a target object and its surface.

CofiFab: Coarse-to-Fine Fabrication of Large 3D Objects

CofiFab is a coarse-to-fine fabrication approach that cost effectively combines 3D printing and 2D laser cutting for large object fabrication. It includes a novel optimization formulation that simultaneously arranges 3D-printed and laser-cut parts for various constraints, and a novel interlocking scheme for constructing stable laser-cut assemblies.
