Digital Painting Classroom: Learning Oil Painting Using a Tablet

This talk shows how a realistic mobile paint system can be used as a support tool to teach the fundamentals of painting and color theory. The method reduces the barrier to learning oil painting, because there are no material costs involved and learning can take place anywhere, anytime.

Painting With Turbulence

Inspired by a study that identified a strong similarity between Vincent van Gogh’s and Jackson Pollock’s painting techniques, this project explores the chaotic property changes in turbulent flows and presents a process of creating paintings with turbulence.

Loving Vincent: Guiding Painters Through 64,000 frames.

This talk presents the workflow for the first feature-length oil-painted animation film, "Loving Vincent", including new methods to produce animation guidelines from the original filmed footage to guide more than 50 painters through 64,000 frames.
